UniRemote Terms of Service
LAST UPDATED: AUGUST 2026
Terms of Use & Software License overview.
By installing or using UniRemote, you agree to these Terms of Use. PMC Labs grants you a personal, non-exclusive license to operate UniRemote on your Android hardware for offline home appliance control.
1. License Grant & Acceptance
By installing, copying, or utilizing UniRemote, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. PMC Labs grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to operate UniRemote on your personal Android devices for non-commercial home appliance control.
2. Hardware & Appliance Compatibility
UniRemote utilizes standardized Infrared (IR) protocols including Sony SIRC (40kHz), NEC (38kHz), Kaseikyo, RC-5, and Raw pulse bursts through Android's ConsumerIrManager system service.
While UniRemote covers a broad set of global brands (Samsung, LG, Sony, Carrier, Panasonic, Daikin) and authentic regional brands (Devant, GMA Affordabox, TVplus, Condura, Konzert), compatibility depends on the physical infrared diode capabilities of your phone, optical line-of-sight, and specific hardware revisions of the receiver appliance. PMC Labs does not guarantee compatibility with every appliance model in existence.
3. Limitation of Liability
Under no circumstances shall PMC Labs be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the operation of home appliances (including air conditioning temperature settings, volume levels, or power cycling). Users are responsible for verifying that appliance controls are operated safely within appropriate operating guidelines.
4. Third-Party Trademarks
All product names, brand names, logos, and registered trademarks (including Sony, Samsung, LG, Carrier, JBL, Bose, Epson, Devant, GMA Affordabox, TVplus, etc.) are the property of their respective owners. Their use in UniRemote is solely for compatibility identification purposes under fair use and does not imply affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship by said trademark holders.
5. Open Source Software Components
UniRemote is built with the following open-source frameworks & libraries, used in full compliance with their permissive licenses:
