Is student data ever uploaded to any cloud server?+
No. TeacherDesk operates on an offline-first architecture. All student rosters, grades, attendance logs, and seating charts are stored strictly in your device's local SQLite database. No student information is ever transmitted to remote cloud databases.
How does the QR Code attendance scanner work?+
TeacherDesk automatically generates unique cryptographic QR codes for every student in your roster. By opening the Live QR Scanner, the camera reads the badge in milliseconds, updates today's attendance snapshot, and logs the timestamp without requiring an active internet connection.
What happens if I uninstall the app or switch devices?+
Because data is stored 100% locally on your phone for privacy, uninstalling TeacherDesk will delete local records unless you export a backup first. We recommend using Classroom Tools → Data & Storage Hub to export a secure JSON backup before uninstalling or moving to a new phone.
Can I import existing class lists from Excel or Google Sheets?+
Yes! The Bulk Roster Importer supports standard CSV and comma/tab-separated text files. You can copy a column of student names or import a spreadsheet to populate 50+ students in a single click.
Does TeacherDesk comply with school data privacy regulations?+
Yes. By keeping all records offline on the educator's physical hardware and refusing cloud uploads of student metrics, TeacherDesk aligns with stringent privacy frameworks including the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
