TeacherDesk Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED: AUGUST 24, 2026

Everything you record stays on this device only.

TeacherDesk operates on an offline-first architecture. All student rosters, grades, attendance logs, and seating charts are stored strictly in your device's local SQLite database. Passwords and MPINs are protected with salted PBKDF2 hashing. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes local records unless exported first to an encrypted JSON backup.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to the application when setting up your educator workspace:

  • Account Information: Name, educator email address, and security password or MPIN configured when initializing the app.
  • Profile Details: Optional school affiliation, department, and advisory subjects.
  • Class & Student Data: Sections, student rosters, attendance records, exam scores, behavioral merits, and seating layouts created within TeacherDesk.
  • Consent Records: Recorded acknowledgment of terms and regulatory data compliance.

2. Data Storage & Local Architecture

TeacherDesk is engineered to eliminate cloud breach vulnerability by preserving data on your hardware:

  • Offline SQLite Database: All class sections, student profiles, attendance matrices, and grades reside in private, sandbox-isolated SQLite storage.
  • Salted PBKDF2 Cryptography: Passwords, security answers, and 6-digit MPINs are never stored in plain text. They are hashed using salted PBKDF2 algorithms.
  • Optional Google Sign-In: If you authenticate via Google, authentication tokens are validated through Firebase Authentication. Your class and student records are NOT uploaded to Firebase.
  • Zero Cloud Uploads: TeacherDesk does not transmit student records, grades, or personal details to any cloud servers.

3. How We Use Information

The information collected on your device is used solely to:

  • Facilitate instant roll call, attendance percentage calculations, and matrix reports.
  • Calculate weighted exam scores and transmuted grades according to curriculum rules.
  • Generate unique cryptographic student ID QR codes for contactless scanning.
  • Enable seamless local backup creation and data migration.
  • Protect app access through biometric unlock and MPIN validation.

4. Information Sharing & Advertising Services

We do not sell your personal or student information. Student rosters, grades, attendance logs, and personal notes are NEVER shared with advertisers or external commercial partners.

TeacherDesk may integrate Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display non-intrusive banner advertisements to support continuous development. AdMob may utilize anonymous device identifiers (such as Android Advertising ID) and IP addresses for fraud prevention, telemetry, and ad delivery. Educators subscribing to the Pro tier enjoy a 100% ad-free experience.

5. Data Security & Cryptography

We implement industry-standard technical measures on-device to safeguard your academic records:

  • Sandbox-level application isolation enforcing Android OS permission barriers.
  • PBKDF2 key derivation for educator credentials.
  • Compliance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines regarding student record privacy.

6. Your Rights & Choices

As the sole custodian of your on-device records, you retain complete rights to:

  • Access, review, and modify all student information and class rosters at any time.
  • Export your entire academic database as an encrypted JSON backup file.
  • Permanently purge individual sections, student profiles, or your entire database.
  • Revoke camera or notification permissions at any time via Android System Settings.

7. Children's Privacy

TeacherDesk is an educational utility designed exclusively for adult teachers, educators, and school administrators. It is not intended for direct account creation by children under the age of 13. Student names and identifying numbers stored by teachers are processed strictly locally on the educator's device.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app updates or regulatory guidelines. The “Last updated” timestamp will reflect the latest version. Your continued use of TeacherDesk indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
